ADDICTA: The Turkish Journal on Addictions

Addicta: The Turkish Journal on Addictions is an international, scientific, open access periodical published in accordance with independent, unbiased, and double-blinded peer-review principles. The journal is the official publication of Turkish Green Crescent Society, and it is published quarterly in January, May, September, and December. The publication language of the journal is English.

The main goal of the journal is to contribute to the literature by publishing manuscripts at the highest scientific level, covering all aspects of addiction and related disorders as well as forming a scientific forum by producing quality debate on various disciplines. The journal also aims to contribute to the shaping of the addiction-related policies in Turkey by publishing the most up to date and original studies.

The scope of the journal covers all aspects of substance use and behavioral addictions which affects the physical, mental, and social life of individuals. The main topics that are considered for publication in the journal is included but not limited to addictions to tobacco, alcohol, drugs, gaming, gambling, shopping, sex-pornography, working, eating. Articles on general internet addiction wil not be considered for evaluation, but research on the specific internet addictions such as online gaming disorder, online gamblling/betting and online sex/pornogrpahy are welcomed.

As an interdisciplinary journal, Addicta: The Turkish Journal on Addictions welcomes research articles from various scientific fields such as Health Sciences, Public Health, Criminology, Forensic Medicine, Nursing, Psychiatry, Toxicology, Sociology, Psychology, Educational Sciences, Law, Economy, Media, Communication, Philosophy, and Social Services. The journal also publishes reviews, case reports, letters to the editors, and book reviews within its scope.

The target audience of the journal includes addiction researchers, medical doctors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and college students.

The editorial and publication processes of the journal are shaped in accordance with the guidelines of the Farmington ConsensusInternational Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)World Association of Medical Editors (WAME)Council of Science Editors (CSE)Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)European Association of Science Editors (EASE), and National Information Standards Organization (NISO). The journal is in conformity with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (doaj.org/bestpractice).

Addicta: The Turkish Journal on Addictions is indexed in Web of Science - Emerging Sources Citation Index, TUBITAK ULAKBIM TR Index, EBSCO, Turkish Psychiatry Index and InfoBase.

Processing and publication are free of charge with the journal. No fees are requested from the authors at any point throughout the evaluation and publication process. All manuscripts must be submitted via the online submission system, which is available at www.addicta.com.tr.  The journal guidelines, technical information, and the required forms are available on the journal’s web page.

All expenses of the journal are covered by the Turkish Green Crescent Society. Potential advertisers should contact the Editorial Office. Advertisement images are published only upon the Editor-in-Chief’s approval.

All published content is available online, free of charge at www.addicta.com.tr.  Printed copies of the journal are distributed to libraries, academics, governmental and non-governmental organizations, free of charge.
